The Barra Airport in the Barra Island, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, is the only beach runway in the world to that handles scheduled airline services. Although it’s a bit of a shack on the beach, Barra offers travellers plenty of parking, car rental facilities, as well as public transport that serves the remainder of the island. The shortest runway (of 3) at Barra is only 680 metres.
